Today's Rocktober song takes us back to the early days of garage rock. The mid to late '60s were the birth of garage rock and proto punk rock. Hell, there's even an entire series of box set compilations dedicated to the genre -- the legendary (and awesome) Nuggets compilations, which .
Among the earliest garage rock and psychedelic rock hits was The Count Five's "Psychotic Reaction," which got all the way up to #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1966. It was the title track to the band's 1996 debut album, which would end up being the group's only album (and the song the group's only hit) because the members of the group were in their late teens and decided to go to college instead of pursuing music. Thankfully, in their short time together, The Count Five bestowed the world with a classic garage/fuzz/psychedelic rock song, influencing many garage and punk rockers after them. With that, here is the song. I don't think this is an official video, but then again, I'm an enigma.
