The second beer in my beer advent calendar is a classic: St. Bernardus's Christmas Ale. Rooted in the Trappist tradition and located in Watou, Belgium -- a small town in West Flanders on the French border -- St. Bernardus is not a Trappist brewery any longer, but simply a fantastic Belgian brewery. All of their beers are great, but I look forward to the Christmas Ale every year. At nearly 10% ABV, it's strong, but not overpoweringly so. It drinks like a nice Belgian strong dark ale, though it's categorized as a "winter ale" on Untappd. All in all, it's an awesome beer.
