Today is the 35th anniversary of the release of Queen's twelfth studio album, A Kind of Magic. Although the album only reached #46 on the Billboard album chart, it was a big hit around the world, reaching #1 on the album charts in the UK and Argentina, as well as the top ten on the album charts in eight other countries. It spawned four Top 25 hits on the UK pop charts, "One Vision" (#7), the title track (#3), "Friends Will Be Friends" (#14), and "Who Wants to Live Forever" (#24).
"One Vision" was released the prior year on the Iron Eagle soundtrack, and it was only a minor hit in the U.S., reaching #61 on the Billboard Hot 100, but it became one of the band's signature songs in their later years. The song was co-written by all four members of the band, and it was a tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr.
The video kicks off with an homage to the band's Queen II album cover and their video for "Bohemian Rhapsody," and then it shows them in the studio in Munich. I am giving you the extended version of the video because I love you.
