Updated Championship Week Predictions: "Eye of The Tiger"

We have our first automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball Tournament clinched, and in honor of the Tennessee State Tigers' first trip to the Big Dance since the Clinton Administration, today's song is Survivor's classic "Eye of the Tiger."  And we also had various teams go down in other tournaments before their time.  Madness!

Here's what happened yesterday and what we have to look forward to today:

• In the OVC championship, top seed Tennessee State stomped 2-seed Morehead State, 93-67, giving the Tigers their 3rd NCAA Tournament berth and first since 1994.
• In the A-Sun semifinals, 1-seed Central Arkansas bounced 5-seed Florida Gulf Coast, 73-63, and 3-seed Queens topped 2-seed Austin Peay, 90-83.  When they meet in this afternoon's title game, both the Bears and the Royals will be playing for their first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament!
• In the Big South semis, top seed High Point staved off 4-seed UNC Asheville, 75-71, while 2-seed Winthrop squeaked by 6-seed Presbyterian, 73-71.  When they face off in this afternoon's championship game, the Panthers will be seeking their 2nd NCAA Tournament berth and second in a row, while the Eagles will be seeking their 12th berth and first since 2021.
• In the MVC semifinals, 6-seed Northern Iowa upset 2-seed Bradley, 73-69, and 5-seed UIC crushed 9-seed Drake, 72-51.  In this afternoon's title game, the Panthers will be playing for their 9th NCAA Tournament bid and first since, 2016, while the Flames will be playing for their 4th bid and first since 2004.
• In the NEC semifinals, top seed LIU dropped 7-seed Wagner, 64-56, while 3-seed Mercyhurst beat 5-seed Stonehill, 56-51.  Tuesday night's championship game will be somewhat academic because Mercyhurst is ineligible for the NCAA Tournament, as it's still in the transition period to D-1.  That means if Mercyhurst wins, the runner-up will get the NEC's automatic bid.  So either way, the Sharks -- formerly the Blackbirds and coached by NBA legend Rod Strickland -- will be going to their 8th NCAA Tournament and first since 2018.
• In the Summit League semis, 1-seed North Dakota State destroyed 5-seed Omaha, 74-50, and 3-seed North Dakota upset 2-seed St. Thomas, 67-66, setting up a battle for Peace Garden State supremacy in tonight's championship game, where the Bison will be playing for their 5th trip to the NCAA Tournament and first since 2019, while the Fighting Hawks will be playing for their 2nd trip and first since 2017.
• In the America East quarters, things were chalky, as top seed UMBC beat 8-seed New Hampshire, 84-69, 2-seed Vermont topped 7-seed Bryant, 77-57, 3-seed NJIT eked past 6-seed Maine, 60-58, and 4-seed UMass Lowell outlasted 5-seed Albany, 81-76, to advance to Tuesday's semis.
• In the second half of the MAAC quarterfinals, 3-seed Siena downed 6-seed Mount St. Mary's, 63-58, and 5-seed Marist beat 4-seed Quinnipiac, 77-75, to advance to today's semifinals.
• In the SoCon quarters, only one of the top four seeds won, as 1-seed East Tennessee State downed 9-seed The Citadel, 83-76, 7-seed UNC Greensboro upset 2-seed Wofford, 75-72, 6-seed Furman upset 3-seed Samford, 86-81, and 5-seed Western Carolina beat 4-seed Mercer, 77-73, to advance to today's semifinals.
• In the Sun Belt quarterfinals, we had two upsets, as 8-seed Southern Miss ousted 4-seed Appalachian State, 86-73, and 10-seed Georgia Southern shellacked 3-seed Coastal Carolina, 96-72, to advance to today's semifinals.
• In the Third Round of the WCC, 5-seed San Francisco made easy work of 9-seed Portland, 82-65, and 6-seed Pacific outlasted 7-seed Seattle, 61-58, to advance to tonight's quarterfinals.
• In the Second Round of the CAA, 5-seed Drexel beat 13-seed Northeastern, 84-77, 6-seed William & Mary topped 11-seed Elon, 72-62, 7-seed Towson hung on against 10-seed Hampton, 74-68, and 9-seed Campbell beat 8-seed Stony Brook, 96-89, to advance to today's quarterfinals.
• In the First Round of the Big Sky, 7-seed Idaho crushed 8-seed Sacramento State, 68-45, and 9-seed Idaho State downed 10-seed Northern Arizona, 73-65, to advance to tonight's quarters.
• One conference tournament starts today, and 13 conference tournaments have games today.
• 3 conference tournaments have quarterfinals today (Big Sky, CAA, WCC), 4 conference tournaments have semifinals today (MAAC, Patriot, SoCon, Sun Belt), and 4 conference tournaments have championship games today (A-Sun, Big South, MVC, Summit).
