All of the conference tournament brackets are now set! Here's what happened in yesterday's Championship Week action, which saw bids clinched and several high seeds go down:
- In the MVC final, 2-seed Wichita State handled 1-seed Illinois State, 71-51, sending the Shockers to their 14th NCAA Tournament and 6th in a row. Illinois State is on the bubble for an at-large berth.
- In the Atlantic Sun final, top seed Florida Gulf Coast beat up on 3-seed North Florida to clinch Dunk City's 3rd ever trip to the Big Dance and second in a row.
- In the Big South final, the 7-seed Campbell Fighting Camels' dreams of their first NCAA Tournament berth since 1992 fell short, as top seed Winthrop won the title with a 76-59 win in Rock Hill. With the win, the Eagles will be going to their 10th NCAA Tournament and first since 2010.
- In the CAA semis, the top two seeds -- UNC-Wilmington and Charleston, respectively -- won. When they play tonight, the Seahawks will be playing for their 6th trip to the NCAA Tournament and second in a row, while the Cougars will be playing for their 5th NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 1999 (and first since joining the CAA).
- In the MAAC semis, both top seeds went down. In arguably the biggest upset of the day, 1-seed Monmouth lost on its home court to 4-seed Siena, 89-85. Monmouth won the regular season title by 4 games, but suffered a crushing defeat in the conference tournament for the second year in a row. Their chances of an at-large bid are slim. In the other semi, 3-seed Iona beat 2-seed St. Peter's. The Saints will be gunning for their 7th NCAA Tournament and first since 2010 (Fran McCaffery's last year as head coach), while the Gaels will be playing for their 12th NCAA Tournament berth and second in a row.
- In the Patriot League semis, 3-seed Lehigh beat 2-seed Boston University, 90-88, in a thrilling double OT game. In the other game, 1-seed Bucknell held off a pesky 4-seed Navy team, 70-65. When Lehigh and Bucknell face off Wednesday night for the title, the Mountain Hawks will be playing for their 6th NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2012, when they upset Duke in the first round as a 15-seed. The Bison will be playing for their 7th NCAA Tournament berth and first since 2013.
- In the SoCon semis, top seed UNC-Greensboro beat 5-seed Wofford, and 3-seed East Tennessee State beat 7-seed Samford to advance to tonight's final. The Spartans will be playing for their 3rd NCAA Tournament berth and first since 2001 (Fran McCaffery's second year as head coach), while the Buccaneers will be playing for their 10th berth and first since 2010.
- In the Horizon League, the slaughter continues, as only one of the top four seeds advanced to the semis. 6-seed UIC beat 3-seed Green Bay, while 4-seed Northern Kentucky staved off 5-seed Wright State.
- 3 bids are up for grabs today: the CAA, MAAC, and SoCon
- 2 conference tournaments start up today, and a total of nine have games today.
