Updated Championship Week Predictions: "Sir Duke"

Another day, another two bids clinched!  And we have another five that will be clinched today!  Apologies to SoCon champs Samford Bulldogs, as I've used The Beatles' "Hey Bulldog" in the past for other Bulldogs who have won, but today's song is Steve Wonder's "Sir Duke," in honor of the James Madison Dukes' Sun Belt Tournament championship.

Here's what happened in yesterday's action and what we have to look forward to:

• In the SoCon title game, 1-seed Samford held off a pesky 7-seed East Tennessee State, 76-69, to clinch the Bulldogs' 3rd NCAA Tournament bid and first since 2000.
• In the Sun Belt final, 2-seed James Madison cruised to a 91-71 victory over 4-seed Arkansas State.  The Dukes clinched their 6th NCAA Tournament berth and first since 2013, and some other bubble teams can sleep easier tonight knowing that James Madison clinched an automatic bid and is no longer "on the bubble."
• In the CAA semifinals, top seed Charleston outlasted 5-seed Towson, 61-56, and 7-seed Stony Brook went on a late run to overtake 3-seed Hofstra, 63-59.  When they meet in tonight's title game, the Cougars will be playing for their 7th NCAA Tournament berth and second in a row, while the Seawolves will be playing for their 2nd berth and first since 2016 (and playing in their first CAA title game since moving from the America East two seasons ago).
• In the Horizon semis, 1-seed Oakland needed every minute of the game to top 7-seed Cleveland State, 74-71, and 6-seed Milwaukee took down 5-seed Northern Kentucky82-75.  When they face off in tonight's title game, the Golden Grizzlies will be seeking their 4th NCAA Tournament bid and first since 2011, and the Panthers will be seeking their 5th bid and first since 2014.
• In the Summit semifinals, top seed South Dakota State dropped 4-seed St. Thomas, 59-49, and 7-seed Denver beat 6-seed Omaha in a 66-63 game that came down to the wire.  When they play each other in tonight's championship game, the Jackrabbits will be playing for their 7th NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2022, while the Pioneers will be playing for their first ever appearance.
• In the WCC semis, 1-seed St. Mary's beat 4-seed Santa Clara, 79-65, and 2-seed Gonzaga pulled away in the second half to beat 3-seed San Francisco, 89-77.  These two teams' WCC dominance is unprecedented.  Gonzaga has played in every WCC Tournament title game since 1998.  Of the 37 WCC Tournament title games, Gonzaga has appeared in 30, St. Mary's has appeared in 14, and this will be the 12th time they have faced off in the title game (all since 2004) and the third year in a row.  Both teams are locks for the NCAA Tournament. The Gaels will be playing in their 13th NCAA Tournament and third in a row, and the Bulldogs 26th NCAA Tournament and 4th in a row.
• In the second half of the Big Sky quarterfinals, 3-seed Montana held off 6-seed Portland State, 87-81, and 5-seed Montana State beat 4-seed Weber State, 91-82, to advance to tonight's semis.
• In the Second Round of the Southland, which is effectively the quarterfinals, 4-seed Lamar topped 8-seed New Orleans, 71-57, 3-seed Nicholls destroyed 7-seed Texas A&M-Commerce, 72-51, to advance to tonight's semifinals.
• Five conference tournaments start today, and 13 conference tournaments have games today.
• Five conference tournaments have title games today (CAA, Horizon, NEC, Summit, WCC), three conference tournaments have semifinals today (America East, Big Sky, Southland), and no conference tournaments have quarterfinals today.
