Updated Championship Week Predictions: "Feels Like the First Time"

Yesterday was mainly normal.  But our first automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball Tournament will be clinched this evening!  It's such a zesty and vibrant feeling each year to see that first bid clinched.  Familiar, but sexy and new every time, like a good mistress.  So today's song is Foreigner's "Feels Like the First Time."  The band was like "Hey, there's a really good-looking dormant train car in the middle of a parking lot.  We're not leaving here until we film at least two videos."

Here's what happened in yesterday's action and what we have to look forward to:

• In the OVC semis, 1-seed Little Rock handily defeated 4-seed Western Illinois, 82-57, and 3-seed Morehead State downed 2-seed Tennessee Martin, 84-78.  In tonight's championship game, the Trojans will be playing for their 6th NCAA Tournament berth and first since 2016, when they upset Purdue in the 1st round as a 12-seed, and the Eagles will be playing for their 9th berth and fist since 2021.
• In the Big South quarterfinals, 1-seed High Point beat 9-seed Radford, 77-63, 2-seed UNC Asheville squeaked by 7-seed Charleston Southern, 60-55, and 3-seed Gardner-Webb got two free throws in the final three seconds to beat 6-seed Presbyterian, 61-60, and 5-seed Longwood beat 4-seed Winthrop, 69-56, to advance to today's semis.
• In the MVC quarters, it was all chalk, as top seed Indiana State easily beat 9-seed Missouri State, 75-59, 2-seed Drake walloped 10-seed Evansville, 79-58, 3-seed Bradley took an actual shit on 11-seed UIC,74-47, and 4-seed Northern Iowa held off 5-seed Belmont, 67-62, to advance to today's semis.
• In the Second Round of the WCC, 5-seed San Diego held off 8-seed Pepperdine, 57-52, and 6-seed Portland dropped 7-seed Loyola Marymount, 78-70, to advance to today's quarterfinals.
• In the First Round of the CAA, 14-seed Hampton beat 11-seed Elon, 56-55, on a layup with six seconds left, and 13-seed William & Mary trounced 12-seed North Carolina A&T, 79-62, to advance to today's second round.
• In the First Round of the SoCon, 7-seed East Tennessee State said "hello" and "goodbye" to 10-seed VMI, 98-66, and 8-seed Mercer beat 9-seed The Citadel, 84-78, to advance to today's quarterfinals.
• In the First Round of the Summit, 8-seed Oral Roberts came down hard on 9-seed South Dakota, 77-62, to advance to today's quarterfinals.
• Two conference tournaments start today (America East, Big Sky), and 11 conference tournaments have games today.
• One conference tournament has its title game today (OVC), three conference tournaments have semifinals today (Big South, MVC, NEC), and five conference tournaments have quarterfinals today (America East, SoCon, Summit, Sun Belt, WCC).
