Updated Championship Week Predictions: "Dance Macabre"

Today's Championship Week theme song is Ghost's "Dance Macabre."  The first bid to this year's Big Dance will be handed out today in the OVC.  And while Championship Week can fulfill the dreams of some, for many, it is no more than a dance of death.  It's like you think you're going to this sweet party, but then there are some random chicks in plague masks and black dusters, but then they take off their coats and masks to reveal black leotards and silver high-heels doing some sort of coordinated dance, and no one else seems concerned by the fact that there's a man with the head of a goat in a caped outfit, and then some chick you're talking to pokes you in the eyes and your face gets painted into a skull, but you make out with her anyway, and then you realize that all the blood spraying all over you two is from your buddy who you came to the party with, who is being torn apart by vampires.

Here's what happened in yesterday's action:

• In the OVC semifinals, top seed Murray State beat 4-seed Southeast Missouri State,88-74, and 3-seed Morehead State took down 2-seed Belmont, 53-51.  When they meet in this evening's final, the Racers will be playing for their 18th NCAA Tournament bid and first since 2019, while the Eagles will be playing for their 9th bid and second in a row.  Murray State should get into the NCAA Tournament even with a loss, but you know how fickle that Selection Committee can be when it comes to at-large mid-major bids.
• In the Big South quarterfinals, top seed Longwood got a scare, needing overtime to beat 9-seed North Carolina A&T, 79-65, 2-seed Winthrop beat 7-seed High Point, 68-51, 3-seed Gardner-Webb squeaked by 6-seed Campbell, 54-53, and 4-seed South Carolina Upstate beat 12-seed Charleston Southern, 72-62, to advance to today's semifinals.
• In the MVC quarterfinals, 1-seed Northern Iowa downed 8-seed Illinois State, 78-65, 2-seed Missouri State beat 7-seed Valparaiso, 67-58, 3-seed Drake ousted 6-seed Southern Illinois, 65-52, and 4-seed Loyola (IL) dispatched 5-seed Bradley, 66-50, to advance to today's semifinals.
• In the Second Round of the WCC, 5-seed BYU demolished 8-seed Loyola Marymount, 85-60, and 6-seed Portland made easy work of 7-seed San Diego, 73-55, to advance to today's third round.
• In the First Round of the SoCon, 7-seed Mercer destroyed 10-seed Western Carolina, 81-53, and 9-seed The Citadel beat 8-seed East Tennessee State, 84-76 in OT, to advance to today's quarterfinals.
• Two more conference tournaments start today (CAA, Summit), and 10 conference tournaments have games today, including one final (OVC), 4 with semifinals (A-Sun, Big South, MVC, NEC) and 3 with quarterfinals (SoCon, Summit, Sun Belt).
