Updated Championship Week Predictions: The Underdog

Today's Championship Week theme song is Spoon's "The Underdog" because we had multiple 1-seeds and 2-seeds go down in yesterday's action.  They had no fear of the underdog, and that is why they did not survive.  Madness!

Here's what happened in yesterday's action and what we have to look forward to today:

• In the OVC final, 2-seed Morehead State beat top seed Belmont, 86-71, to clinch the Eagles' 8th trip to the NCAA Tournament and first since 2011, when they upset Louisville in the first round of the tournament as a 13-seed.
• In the America East semifinals, the top two seeds fell, as 6-seed UMass Lowell upset 1-seed UMBC, 79-77, and 4-seed Hartford upset 2-seed Vermont, 71-65.  Somewhere, Vin Baker is smiling.  When they meet in next Saturday's championship game, the River Hawks and the non-river Hawks will both be battling for their first-ever NCAA Tournament berth.
• In the A-10 semis, things went according to plan, as top seed St. Bonaventure downed 4-seed St. Louis, 71-53, and 2-seed VCU beat 3-seed Davidson, 64-52.  They will play in the title game a week from today, when the Bonnies will be playing for their 8th NCAA Tournament bid and first since 2018, and the Rams will be playing for their 18th bid and first since 2019.
• In the MVC semis, 1-seed Loyola (IL) made easy work of 4-seed Indiana State, 65-49, and 2-seed Drake squeaked by 3-seed Missouri State, 71-69.  In today's title game, the Ramblers will be seeking their 7th NCAA Tournament berth and first since 2018, when they made their magical run to the Final Four as an 11-seed (though they are a lock to go to the Big Dance, even if they lose), and the Bulldogs will be going for their 5th berth and first since 2008.
• In the NEC semis, 4-seed Mount St. Mary's took down top seed Wagner, 66-60, and 2-seed Bryant crushed 3-seed Sacred Heart, 85-55, to advance to Tuesday's title game, where the Mountaineers will be playing for their 6th trip to the Big Dance and first since 2017, and the Bulldogs will be playing for their first ever berth.
• In the Patriot League quarters, 1-seed Navy fell to 9-seed Loyola (MD), 76-68, 2-seed Colgate outlasted 7-seed Boston, 77-69, 3-seed Lafayette was upset by 6-seed Bucknell, 92-84, and 4-seed Army topped 5-seed American, 89-66, to advance to Wednesday's semis.
• In the quarterfinals of the SoCon, three of the top four seeds lost. 1-seed UNC Greensboro was the only higher seed to win, ending 8-seed The Citadel's dreams of a first NCAA Tournament berth with an 80-72 win.  Elsewhere, 2-seed Wofford was upset by 7-seed Mercer, 62-61, 3-seed Furman was upset by 6-seed VMI in OT, 91-90, and 4-seed Chattanooga lost to 5-seed East Tennessee State, 63-53.  The semifinals are today.
• In the first half of the Summit quarters, it was all The Mount Rushmore State, as 1-seed South Dakota State beat 8-seed Omaha, 84-71, and 2-seed South Dakota beat up on 7-seed Western Illinois, 86-69, to advance to Monday's semis.
• In the Sun Belt quarterfinals, West 1-seed Texas State was upset by East 4-seed Appalachian State in OT, 76-73, East 1-seed Georgia State eked out a win over West 4-seed Arkansas State, 71-68, West 2-seed Louisiana beat East 3-seed South Alabama, 79-68, and East 2-seed Coastal Carolina bounced East 6-seed Troy, 86-68, to advance to today's semifinals.
• In the Third Round of the WCC, 3-seed Pepperdine held off 7-seed Santa Clara, 78-70, and 4-seed St. Mary's beat 5-seed Loyola Marymount, 52-47, to advance to Monday's semifinals.
• In the First Round of the CAA, 7-seed William & Mary downed 10-seed UNC Wilmington, 73-60, and 8-seed Elon pounded 9-seed Towson, 69-48, to advance to today's quarterfinals.
• No conference tournaments start today, but 8 conference tournaments have games today, including three finals (A-Sun, Big South, MVC), 2 with semifinals (SoCon, Sun Belt), and 2 with quarterfinals (CAA, Summit).
• Here are the teams still playing in the conference tournaments that have already started or will start today that have never been to the NCAA Tournament:
