Updated Championship Week Predictions: "Barely Breathing"

Today's Championship Week theme song is Duncan Sheik's 1996 hit "Barely Breathing," in honor of the close calls that some of the top four seeds in various conference tournaments had yesterday.  Though some fell, most managed to advance and are still breathing.

Here's what happened yesterday and what we have to look forward to:

• Our first championship game matchup of 2023 Championship Week is set! In the A-Sun semifinals, top seed Kennesaw State took down 5-seed Lipscomb, 80-71, while 2-seed Liberty topped 3-seed Eastern Kentucky, 79-73.  When they face off in Sunday's title game, the Owls are not only playing in their 1st A-Sun title game ever, but they'll be playing for their 1st ever NCAA Tournament berth, while the Flames will be playing for their 6th berth and first since 2021.
• In the Horizon quarterfinals, 1-seed Youngstown State staved off 8-seed Detroit, 71-66, and unfortunately, Detroit's Antoine Davis came up three points short of tying Pete Maravich's NCAA all-time career scoring mark. 2-seed Milwaukee beat up on 7-seed Wright State, 87-70, 3-seed Cleveland State beat 6-seed Robert Morris in OT, 75-70, and 4-seed Northern Kentucky beat 5-seed Oakland, 81-74.  The semifinals will be Monday.
• In the OVC quarterfinals, 3-seed Tennessee Martin eked out a 81-75 win over 6-seed SIU Edwardsville after three players were ejected in the first half for fighting, and 5-seed Southeast Missouri State beat 4-seed Tennessee State, 91-83, to advance to tonight's semifinals.
• In the Patriot quarterfinals, two of the top three seeds fell.  Top seed Colgate had no problems with 8-seed Loyola (MD), winning 92-73, and 4-seed Army needed OT to beat 5-seed Boston, 71-69, but 2-seed Navy fell to 7-seed American, 52-51, while 6-seed Lafayette beat archrival 3-seed Lehigh, 71-64.  The semifinals are on Sunday.
• In the Second Round of the Sun Belt, 5-seed Troy held off 13-seed Arkansas State, 63-59, 6-seed Old Dominion was pummeled by 11-seed Texas State, 65-36, 7-seed Georgia Southern beat 10-seed Louisiana Monroe, 66-57, and 8-seed South Alabama topped 9-seed Appalachian State, 68-61, to advance to Saturday's quarterfinals.
• In the First Round of the MVC, 5-seed Indiana State annihilated 12-seed Evansville, 97-58, 6-seed Missouri State beat 11-seed UIC, 74-57, 7-seed Murray State crushed 10-seed Valparaiso, 78-50, and 8-seed Northern Iowa beat 9-seed Illinois State, 75-62, to advance to today's quarterfinals.
• In the First Round of the WCC, 7-seed Pacific downed 10-seed Pepperdine, 84-71, and 8-seed Portland beat up on 9-seed San Diego, 92-74, to advance to tonight's second round.
• Three more conference tournaments start today (CAA, SoCon, Summit), and a total of 7 conference tournaments have games today.
• One conference tournament has semifinals today (OVC), and two have quarterfinals today (Big South, MVC)
