Updated Championship Week Predictions: "Take Me Out"

Today's Championship Week theme song is Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out" because we had some higher-seeded teams that were taken out yesterday.  We had some great championship games yesterday, with the first three games ending with a margin of victory of five or fewer points -- followed by two blowouts in the final two title games.  We also had some double-digit seeds -- who had no business winning, according to Vegas -- win in early rounds of other tournaments.  Today, we will have 36 college basketball games over the course of 14 hours -- from the Syracuse/Wake Forest game in the second round of the ACC Tournament and the Davidson/St. Bonaventure game in the second round of the A-10 Tournament tipping off at Noon ET until the end of the Montana State/Northern Arizona game in the Big Sky championship game and the Arizona State/Oregon State game in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament that both tip off at 11:30 p.m. ET.

Here's what happened yesterday, and what we have to look forward to:

• In the CAA title game, 2-seed Charleston held off 4-seed UNC Wilmington, 63-58, to clinch the Cougars' 6th NCAA Tournament berth and first since 2018.
• In the Horizon championship, 4-seed Northern Kentucky topped 3-seed Cleveland State in an exciting 63-61 contest.  The Norse will be going to their 3rd NCAA Tournament and first since 2019.
• In the NEC title game, 1-seed Merrimack beat 2-seed Fairleigh Dickinson, 67-66, in a largely futile exercise (though don't tell the Merrimack students that!).  As I mentioned a few days ago, FDU had already clinched the NEC's automatic bid because Merrimack is still in the transition period from D-II and, therefore, is ineligible for the NCAA Tournament.  The Knights will be playing in their 7th NCAA Tournament and first since 2019.
• In the Summit championship, 1-seed Oral Roberts absolutely annihilated 3-seed North Dakota State, 92-58, for the Golden Eagles' 17th win in a row and 30th win this season.  They will be playing in their 6th NCAA Tournament and first since 2021.
• In the WCC championship game, 2-seed Gonzaga dominated top seed St. Mary's, 77-51. The Bulldogs will be playing in their 25th NCAA Tournament and third in a row. 
• In the America East semifinals, the top two seeds advanced, as 1-seed Vermont cruised to a 79-57 win over 5-seed Binghamton, and 2-seed UMass Lowell downed 3-seed New Hampshire, 75-64.  When they meet in Saturday's title game, the Catamounts will be seeking their 9th NCAA Tournament bid and second in a row, and the River Hawks will be seeking their first ever bid.
• In the Big Sky semis, 2-seed Montana State and 3-seed Weber State needed two overtimes to sort things out, before Montana State pulled out a 60-58 win, and 9-seed Northern Arizona continued its unlikely run, beating 4-seed Montana, 83-71.  In tonight's final, the Bobcats will be playing for their 5th NCAA Tournament appearance and second in a row, and the Lumberjacks will be playing for their 3rd appearance and first since 2000.
• In the Southland semifinals, top seed Texas A&M Corpus Christi finished off 8-seed McNeese State's little run, winning 80-63, and 2-seed Northwestern State held off a pesky 7-seed New Orleans, 74-70.  When they face off in tonight's championship game, the Islanders will be playing for their 3rd trip to the Big Dance and second in a row, and the Demons will be playing for their 4th trip and first since 2013.
• In the First Round of the ACC, 10-seed Boston College crushed 15-seed Louisville, 80-62 -- dropping the Cardinals to 4-28 on the season, their lowest win total and winning percentage in a season since 1941 -- 11-seed Virginia Tech beat 14-seed Notre Dame, 67-64, and 13-seed Georgia Tech came back to beat 12-seed Florida State, 61-60, to advance to today's second round.
• In the First Round of the A-10, 10-seed St. Joseph's beat 15-seed Loyola (IL), 72-67, 11-seed LaSalle bounced14-seed Rhode Island, 73-56, and 12-seed Richmond embarrassed 13-seed UMass, 71-38, to advance to today's second round.
• In the First Round of the Big West, 10-seed Cal Poly -- which hadn't won a game since December 29 -- crushed 7-seed Long Beach State, 88-68, and 8-seed Cal State Bakersfield beat 9-seed Cal State Northridge in a 51-47 rock fight, to advance to tomorrow's quarterfinals.
• In the First Round of the MAAC, 11-seed Marist upset 6-seed Manhattan, 61-50, 10-seed St. Peter's finished off 7-seed Fairfield, 70-52, and 8-seed Mount St. Mary's eked out a 68-67 win in OT over 9-seed Canisius, to advance to the quarterfinals, which are tonight and tomorrow night.
• In the First Round of the wiggity-wiggity-wiggity-wiggity-wiggity-wiggity-WAC, 5-seed Grand Canyon held off 12-seed UT Arlington, 82-77, 11-seed Utah Tech welcomed 6-seed Stephen F. Austin to its first WAC Tournament by taking home an 80-76 win in OT, 7-seed Tarleton won its first tournament game as a D-1 team, beating 10-seed UT Rio Grande Valley, 74-70, and 8-seed Cal Baptist downed 9-seed Abilene Christian, 69-62, to advance to tomorrow's quarterfinals.
• Nine conference tournaments start today (Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, C-USA, MEAC, MWC, Pac-12, SEC, SWAC), and a total of 15 conference tournaments have games today.
• Three bids are up for grabs today (Big Sky, Patriot, Southland), no conference tournaments have semifinals today, and three have quarterfinals (MAAC, MEAC, SWAC).
