Updated Championship Week Predictions

Here's what happened in yesterday's Championship Week action:

• Our first 1-seed has gone down!  In the Big South semis, 5-seed Liberty beat top seed UNC Asheville, 59-54, while 2-seed Radford downed 3-seed Winthrop, 61-52.  They will meet in the championship game tomorrow.  The Flames will be playing for their 4th NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2013, while the Highlanders will be playing for their 3rd NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2009.
• In the OVC semis, the top two seeds -- Murray State and Belmont -- advanced to the final.  They will be playing tonight for the first automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.  The Racers will be playing for their 16th NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2012, while the Bruins will be playing for their 8th NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2015.
• In the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament, top seed Michigan State struggled to hold off 9-seed Wisconsin, 63-60 -- probably because the Spartans know this season is going to get thrown out anyway because they have at least one ineligible player.  5-seed Michigan made quick work of 4-seed Nebraska, putting the Cornhuskers' tournament hopes in jeopardy.  7-seed Penn State upset 2-seed Ohio State, beating the Buckeyes for the third time this season and significantly bolstering the Nittany Lions' NCAA Tournament resume.  Finally, 3-seed Purdue held off 14-seed Rutgers.
• In the first half of the MAAC quarterfinals, both of the top two seeds went down, as 1-seed Rider lost 66-55 to 9-seed St. Peter's and 2-seed Canisius fell to 7-seed Quinnipiac.  It's now Niagara's tournament to lose.  Somewhere Calvin Murphy is twirling his baton a little bit faster.
• In the MVC quarterfinals, 1-seed Loyola (IL) -- still the only college in Illinois to ever win an NCAA men's basketball title -- survived a scare from 9-seed Northern Iowa. The rest of the games went chalk, except for 5-seed Bradley beating 4-seed Drake.
• In the first round of the Horizon League Tournament, 7-seed Green Bay and 8-seed Cleveland State advanced to the quarterfinals.
• In the first round of the SoCon, 8-seed The Citadel topped 9-seed VMI in the battle of the military academies, while 10-seed Chattanooga outlasted 7-seed Samford in the battle of who could care less.
• In the first round of the WCC, 8-seed Loyola Marymount beat 9-seed Portland, presumably in honor of Hank Gathers.  10-seed Pepperdine also downed 7-seed Santa Clara, presumably as a fuck you to Steve Nash.
• Three more tournaments start today (America East, the CAA, and the Summit), and 11 conference tournaments have games today.
• Bubble teams that won yesterday: Loyola (IL), Penn State
