Updated Championship Week Predictions

Today is when things really heat up.  There are 56 games today -- including 42 quarterfinal games -- spanning about 14 hours.  The first games tipped off at Noon Eastern, and the last games are scheduled to tip off at 11:30 p.m. Eastern.  Hearts will, in fact, be broken today.  But before that, here's everything that happened yesterday in Championship Week.  It was not a very good day for a lot of bubble teams:

• The only bid clinched yesterday was in the Patriot League, where 1-seed Bucknell spanked 2-seed Colgate, 83-54, to clinch the Bison's 8th NCAA Tournament berth and second in a row.
• In the first half of the MEAC quarterfinals, top seed Hampton held off 9-seed Florida A&M, 75-71, to advance to the semis, while 7-seed Morgan State upset 2-seed Bethune-Cookman, 78-77.
• In the second round of the ACC, 9-seed Louisville took down 8-seed Florida State in a battle between two bubble teams (although Louisville needed the win a lot more than FSU).  5-seed NC State was upset by 12-seed Boston College.  Like Florida State, NC State should still be in the Big Dance, but this loss has to make Wolfpack fans uneasy.  10-seed Notre Dame battled back from a 21-point second-half deficit to beat 7-seed Virginia Tech, 71-65, and keep their NCAA Tournament hopes alive for at least one more day.  6-seed North Carolina stomped 11-seed Syracuse, putting the Orange's NCAA Tournament chances at bay.
• In the first round of the Big 12, in what was potentially a knockout game, 8-seed Oklahoma State topped 9-seed Oklahoma, 71-60, in the basketball version of Bedlam.  7-seed Texas held on to beat 10-seed Iowa State.
• In the first round of the Big East, it was Chris Mullin against Patrick Ewing, as both Hall of Famers try to restore glory to their alma maters.  Mullins's 9-seed Red Storm came out on top, beating Ewing's 8-seed Hoyas, 88-77.  7-seed Marquette squeaked by 10-seed DePaul, 72-69.  The Golden Eagles will likely have to beat 2-seed Villanova today to secure a ticket to the Big Dance.
• In the first round of the Pac-12, 9-seed Arizona State lost by 12 to 8-seed Colorado, severely impacting the Sun Devils' NCAA Tournament hopes.  Does the 9-seed in arguably the worst major conference who can't win an opening round conference tournament game deserve a spot in the field of 68?  Time will tell.  5-seed Stanford beat rival 12-seed Cal to advance to the quarterfinals, 7-seed Washington lost (again) to 10-seed Oregon State (likely knocking the Huskies out of the Big Dance), and 6-seed Oregon beat 11-seed Washington State.
• In the first round of the SEC, 11-seed South Carolina and 12-seed Georgia advanced to the second round.
• In the first round of the A-10, 11-seed George Washington and 13-seed UMass advanced to the quarterfinals.
• In the first round of Conference USA, 5-seed UTSA, 6-seed UAB, 9-seed Southern Miss, and 10-seed Louisiana Tech advanced to the quarters.
• In the first round of the Mountain West, 6-seed Wyoming, 7-seed Utah State, and 8-seed UNLV advanced to the quarterfinals.
• In the first round of the Southland, 5-seed New Orleans and 7-seed Central Arkansas advanced to the second round, which is the Southland's equivalent of the quarterfinals.
• In the first round of the Sun Belt, 5-seed Appalachian State, 6-seed Troy, 7-seed Louisiana Monroe, 9-seed Texas State advanced to the quarterfinals.
• Three more tournaments start today -- leaving the Ivy League Tournament as the only tournament that hasn't yet started or finished -- and 15 conference tournaments have games today.  No more automatic bids will be up for grabs until Saturday.
• Bubble teams that won yesterday:  Louisville, Marquette, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Texas
• Bubble teams that lost yesterday:  Arizona State, Florida State, NC State, Oklahoma, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, Washington
