CoronaVinyl Day 34 (Collaboration): Live at Third Man Records by Willie Nelson & Friends

For an explanation of CoronaVinyl, click here.
Today's CoronaVinyl category is collaboration, and I meant that to mean an album made by two or more artists or bands that normally wouldn't be making music together, but for one reason or another, they decided to come together to make an album.  I have a few LPs that fall into this category, but with tomorrow being 4/20, I couldn't pass up on Live at Third Man Records by Willie Nelson & Friends.

As I may have mentioned earlier in CoronaVinyl, I'm a member of the Third Man Records Vault record subscription club, and in addition to Jack White-related releases (which I obviously love), over the years they have had some pretty cool releases of live albums recorded by various artists at Third Man Records in Nashville.  One such release was back in 2013, in conjunction with Willie Nelson's 80th birthday.  The Red Headed Stranger and a slew -- but not a slough or a slue -- of excellent fellow musicians recorded three sides of music, which Third Man released to its Vault members.  All songs were backed by the "Third Man House Band," nine musicians that included various accomplished session musicians, as well as the likes of Cheap Trick's Tom Petersson and former Old Crow Medicine Show member Cory Younts.  But then there are the collaborators:
-Neil Young
-Sheryl Crow
-Ashley Monroe
-Norah Jones
-Leon Russell
-Jamey Johnson
-Jack White

The vinyl itself is clear with smoke effects for the first album and clear green for the second album (with an etched graphic of Willie's guitar on the fourth side that does not have any music on it).

The album is not on Spotify and I tried to see if any part of it was on YouTube or elsewhere (as the show was filmed and shown on CMT), but I couldn't find anything.  Here is the track listing (with the guest artists):
Side 1
"Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die"
"Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground" (with Ashley Monroe)
"Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain" (with Ashley Monroe)
"Funny How Time Slips Away" (with Norah Jones)
Side 2
"I Gotta Get Drunk" (with Norah Jones)
"Sail Away" (with Neil Young)
"Long May You Run" (with Neil Young)
"Far Away Places" (with Sheryl Crow)
Side 3
"Whiskey River" (with Sheryl Crow, Jamey Johnson, Norah Jones, Ashley Monroe, and Neil Young)
"A Song For You" (with Leon Russell)
"Heartbreak Hotel" (with Leon Russell)

"Red Headed Stranger" (with Jack White)

Favorite song from Side 1:  "Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die"
This is the first track off the album, and I can't think of a more appropriate song for Willie Nelson, especially a day before 4/20.  I should also note that Nelson will turn 87 (!) in eight days, so we can't even roll him up and smoke him yet.

Favorite song from Side 2:  "Long May You Run"
"Long May You Run" is a collaboration with Neil Young, and the original song was a collaboration between Young and former CSNY and Buffalo Springfield bandmate Stephen Stills.  Young sings this version, as well as the original.

Favorite song from Side 3:  "Heartbreak Hotel"

Accompanied by the great Leon Russell on the keys, Nelson's version of this Elvis classic is rollicking and fun-loving.
