Retro Video of the Week: "Bark at the Moon" by Ozzy Osbourne

Tomorrow marks the 40th anniversary of two infamous events.  First, I became an older brother -- something I've been coming to terms with since then.  Second, Ozzy Osbourne bit the head off a bat on stage at a concert in Des Moines, Iowa.

As the legend goes, Ozzy was in the middle of a concert when someone in the crowd threw a bat onto the stage.  Ozzy thought it was rubber, so he picked it up and jokingly bit its head off, only to realize it was an actual bat.  There are conflicting stories as to whether the bat was alive or dead when it was thrown on stage (the guy who threw it says it was dead), but Ozzy did go to the hospital to get treated for rabies.

In honor of the Ozzman's bat-biting incident, here is the video to the title track from his 1983 album Bark at the Moon.  The song was his first solo Top 40 hit in his native UK, reaching #21 on the UK pop chart, and it also went to #12 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock tracks chart here in the U.S.  The video is a lovely play on the Jekyll-and-Hyde theme.
