Retro Video of the Week: "Reggae Christmas" by Bryan Adams

Now that we're into December, as with every year, the Retro Videos of the Week will be holiday themed.  This week's selection is "Reggae Christmas" by Bryan Adams.  This was the b-side to Adams's more well-known Christmas song, "Christmas Time," released in 1985. It was written in 1978 by Adams's longtime songwriting partner Jim Vallance after a random encounter with Ringo Starr, but Ringo didn't end up recording it, so Adams did a few years later.

Despite the fact that it was the bigger hit, "Christmas Time" didn't have a video until Adams made one in 2019 in conjunction with a Christmas album.  2019 is hardly "retro" -- though it seems like it was twenty years ago after the last 21 months -- so I can't in good conscience include "Christmas Time" as a Retro Video of the Week.

"Reggae Christmas" did, however, have a video.  Filmed in 1984, much like Billy Squier's "Christmas Is the Time to Say I Love You," the video for "Reggae Christmas" is a "live" video in the MTV studios, featuring appearances by the original MTV VJs dancing in the crowd.  And as a bonus, Pee Wee Herman stars in the video.
