Updated Championship Week Predictions: Bubble Pop!

No bids were clinched yesterday, but plenty of bubble teams' dreams were crushed (including my Hoosiers, who decided to take the first 35 minutes of the game off), so today's song is "Bubble Pop!" by Hyuna.  What, you didn't think my musical range expanded to K-pop?!  Bitch, what you don't know about me I could just about fit in that giant trunk you're always parading around town.  To be clear, I assume you have a 1974 Cadillac Coupe de Ville that you drive often and conspicuously.  Lotta trunk space in those things.  Here's what happened in yesterday's Championship Week action and what we have to look forward to today:
  • In the ACC quarterfinals, the top four seeds advanced to tonight's semis, as 1-seed Virginia stomped 8-seed NC State, 76-56, 2-seed UNC beat 7-seed Louisville, 83-70, 3-seed Duke dropped 6-seed Syracuse, 84-72, and 4-seed Florida State topped 5-seed Virginia Tech in OT, 65-63.
  • In the Big 12 quarterfinals, we had our biggest upset of the day, as 2-seed Texas Tech fell to 10-seed West Virginia, 79-74.  Madness!  Top seed Kansas State topped 8-seed TCU, 70-61, perhaps keeping the Horned Frogs out of the Big Dance, 3-seed Kansas beat 6-seed Texas, 65-57, which may end the Longhorns' tournament hopes, and 5-seed Iowa beat down 4-seed Baylor, 83-66.
  • In the Big East quarterfinals, 1-seed Villanova beat 8-seed Providence, 73-62, 2-seed Marquette trounced 7-seed St. John's, 86-54,3-seed Seton Hall may have ended 6-seed Georgetown's NCAA Tournament hopes with a 73-57 win, and, 4-seed Xavier beat 5-seed Creighton, 63-61, likely popping the Blue Jays' NCAA Tournament bubble.
  • In the Big Sky quarterfinals, top seed Montana beat 9-seed Sacramento State, 79-73, 2-seed Northern Colorado was upset by 7-seed Southern Utah, 83-64, 3-seed Eastern Washington beat 6-seed Montana State, 90-84, and 4-seed Weber State beat 5-seed Portland State, 81-71.
  • In the Big West quarterfinals, 1-seed UC Irvine dominated 8-seed UC Riverside, 63-44, 2-seed UC Santa Barbara squeaked past 7-seed Cal State Northridge, 71-68, 3-seed Cal State Fullerton needed OT to get by 6-seed UC Davis, and 4-seed Hawaii fell to 5-seed Long Beach State, 68-66.
  • In the Conference USA quarterfinals, top seed Old Dominion was nearly upset by 8-seed Louisiana Tech, but pulled out a 57-56 win.  2-seed Western Kentucky, 3-seed Southern Miss, and 5-seed UAB also advanced to today's semis.
  • In the miggity-miggity-miggity-miggity-miggity-miggity-MAC quarterfinals, top seed Buffalo crushed 8-seed Akron, 82-46, 2-seed Toledo was upset by 7-seed Northern Illinois, 80-76, 3-seed Bowling Green topped 11-seed Ball State, 99-86, 5-seed Central Michigan beat 4-seed Kent State, 89-81.
  • In the second half of the MEAC quarterfinals, 3-seed North Carolina Central and 4-seed Howard both won to advance to today's semis.
  • In the Mountain West quarterfinals, top seed Nevada had a scare, but then pulled away at the end to beat 9-seed Boise State, 77-69.  Same with 2-seed Utah State, who beat 7-seed New Mexico, 91-83, 3-seed Fresno State destroyed 6-seed Air Force, and 4-seed San Diego State beat 5-seed UNLV.
  • In the Pac-12 quarterfinals, 1-seed Washington narrowly avoided an upset at the hands of 8-seed USC, walking away with a 78-75 win.  2-seed Arizona State kept its NCAA Tournament hopes alive with a 83-72 win over UCLA.  6-seed Oregon beat 3-seed Utah, and 5-seed Colorado dropped 4-seed Oregon State, 73-58.
  • The wiggity-wiggity-wiggity-wiggity-wiggity-wiggity-WAC quarterfinals went chalk, as top seed and prohibitive favorite New Mexico State thrashed 8-seed Chicago State, 86-49, while 2-seed Utah Valley, 3-seed Grand Canyon, and 4-seed UT Rio Grande Valley also advanced to tonight's semis.
  • In the second round of the A-10, 5-seed George Mason, 6-seed St. Louis, 8-seed Rhode Island, and 10-seed St. Joseph's advanced to today's quarterfinals.
  • In the second round of the Big Ten, 8-seed Ohio State opened up a 20-point lead on 9-seed Indiana with 7:33 left in the game before the Hoosiers went on a 26-9 run to get within three with 55 seconds left.  IU then shit the bed, losing 79-75, likely relegating the Hoosier to the NIT.  What an absolute waste of the one year we had Romeo Langford.  But like losing a pet dog to terminal cancer, at least now I don't have to live in a constant state of anxiety about them any more.  Elsewhere, 13-seed Nebraska came away with a huge upset of 5-seed Maryland, 7-seed Minnesota went to OT before beating 10-seed Penn State, and 6-seed Iowa crushed the Orange Crush, 11-seed Illinois, 83-62.
  • In the second round of the SEC, 5-seed Auburn beat 12-seed Missouri, 81-71, 6-seed Mississippi State beat 11-seed Texas A&M, 80-54, 10-seed Alabama topped 7-seed Ole Miss, 62-57, in a battle of bubble teams, and 8-seed Florida beat 9-seed Arkansas, 66-50.
  • In the second round of the Southland, 3-seed Southeastern Louisiana and 4-seed New Orleans advanced to today's semis.
  • In the second round of the Sun Belt, 7-seed Louisiana-Monroe and 8-seed South Alabama advanced to today's quarterfinals.
  • In the first round of the AAC, 5-seed Memphis, 6-seed Wichita State, 9-seed UConn, and 10-seed SMU advanced to today's quarterfinals.
  • No bids are up for grabs today.
  • No tournaments start today, but 18 tournaments have games, including 13 semifinals and 5 quarterfinals.  We have 46 games over 14+ hours, with the first games tipping off at Noon Eastern and the last games tipping off at Midnight Eastern.  Happy Friday!
  • Bubble teams that won yesterday:  Alabama, Arizona State, Florida, Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio State, Seton Hall, Utah State, Xavier
  • Bubble teams that lost yesterday:  Creighton, Georgetown, Indiana, Mississippi, NC State, St. John's, Syracuse, TCU, Texas
