One of my favorite new bands is an Irish hard rock band called The Answer. Their newest album, Everyday Demons (their first full-length album released stateside), is excellent, and several of their songs ("Demon Eyes" and "On and On") have been getting some radio play around these parts, at least on 97.9 (Chicago's classic rock/hard rock station). To listen to some of their songs, check out their MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/theanswerrock.
Currently, they are opening for AC/DC on their world tour, as well as playing some shows on their own. After their show with AC/DC at the United Center on Friday August 14, The Answer will be playing the next night (Saturday August 15, for those of you who have a hard time with consecutive numbers) at Beat Kitchen, which is a fantastic small venue on Belmont, about a block west of Damen (as I'm sure you recall, I saw Louis XIV there a couple years ago).
Tickets are only $10. I've already bought tickets, and I suggest you do the same. If you like good, straightforward hard rock -- and by God, you should -- then you should definitely check out this show. It will probably be the last time they will be playing in a venue this small.
