Retro Video of the Week: "Things Can Only Get Better" by Howard Jones

Tuesday marked the 40th anniversary of the release of British pop/new wave artist Howard Jones's sophomore album, Dream into Action.  The album was Jones's highest-charting and best-selling in the U.S., hitting #10 on the Billboard album chart and going platinum in the U.S.  It also reached #2 on the UK album chart.

In the UK, all five singles from the album reached the Top 20 of the pop chart, with three Top 10 songs.  All four singles released in the U.S. charted on the Billboard Hot 100, with three in the Top 20, including his two highest-charting singles in the U.S. -- "No One Is to Blame" (#4) and "Things Can Only Get Better" (#5).

I decided to go with the latter, simply because I think it's more of a classic mid '80s new wave song.  Also, given that my Hoosiers' loss in the Big Ten Tournament today likely means they will miss the NCAA Tournament, things can, in fact, only get better.

The video starts before a concert, as the crew is setting everything up.  For some reason, Charlie Chaplin and a poor man's Danny LaRusso are there.  They find their way into the crowd during the show, which is a good thing because that means they got to see Jones's satin orange suit.
