Updated Championship Week Predictions: "Danger Zone"

Today's Championship Week song is Kenny Loggins's classic "Danger Zone," made famous in Top Gun, whose main character's call sign is Maverick, which is the same name as the mascot for Omaha, which clinched its first-ever NCAA Tournament berth by making it to the title game of the Summit League Tournament against a team ineligible to play in the NCAA Tournament.  So that means we have our first two NCAA Tournament bids clinched yesterday!  A more will be clinched today!

Here's what happened yesterday and what we have to look forward to today:

• In the OVC title game, 2-seed SIU Edwardsville dominated top seed Southeast Missouri State, clinching the Screaming Eagles' first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament.
• In the Big South semis,1-seed High Point staved off 4-seed Radford, 76-73, and 3-seed Winthrop crushed 2-seed UNC Asheville, 86-67.  When they meet in today's title game, the Panthers will be playing for their first-ever NCAA Tournament berth, while the Eagles will be playing for their 12th berth and first since 2021.
• In the MVC semifinals, top seed Drake bounced 4-seed Belmont, and 2-seed Bradley beat stopped 11-seed Valparaiso's Cinderella hopes, 70-65, to advance to today's championship game, where the Bulldogs will be playing for their 8th NCAA Tournament appearance and third in a row, and the Braves will be playing for their 10th appearance and first since 2019.
• In the NEC semis, 1-seed Central Connecticut State needed OT to beat 4-seed Fairleigh Dickinson, 76-72, and 3-seed St. Francis (PA) upset 2-seed LIU, 71-68.  When they face off in Tuesday's championship game, the Blue Devils will be seeking their 4th NCAA Tournament berth and first since 2007, and the Red Flash will be seeking their 2nd berth and first since 1991.
• In the Summit semifinals, top seed Omaha dominated 5-seed South Dakota, 100-75, and 2-seed St. Thomas took care of 6-seed North Dakota, 85-69, to advance to tonight's championship game.  It will be somewhat of an anticlimactic affair, as the Tommies are ineligible for the NCAA Tournament because they are still in the transition period to D-1.  So that means the Mavericks get the automatic bid, which is their first in program history.
• In the America East quarterfinals, things were chalky, as 1-seed Bryant downed 8-seed UMBC, 85-74, 2-seed Vermont held off 7-seed New Hampshire, 64-57, 3-seed Maine beat 6-seed UMass Lowell, and 4-seed Albany topped in-state rival Binghamton, 69-66, to advance to Tuesday's semifinals.
• In the SoCon quarters, top-seed Chattanooga was the only higher seed to win, beating 8-seed Mercer, 76-61, while 7-seed VMI upset 2-seed UNC Greensboro, 64-57, 6-seed Wofford ousted 3-seed East Tennessee State, 72-60, and 5-seed Furman toppled 4-seed Samford, to advance to today's semis.
• In the Sun Belt quarterfinals, 3-seed Troy beat 10-seed Old Dominion, 75-59, and 4-seed Arkansas State outlasted 5-seed Marshall, 77-74, to advance to today's semis.
• In the Third Round of the WCC, 9-seed Pepperdine upset 5-seed Oregon State, 77-73, while downed 8-seed Portland, 86-73, and 6-seed Washington State easily downed 7-seed Loyola Marymount, 94-77, to advance to today's quarters.
• In the Second Round of the CAA, 12-seed Delaware upset 5-seed Campbell, 79-62, 6-seed Monmouth beat 11-seed Hofstra, 65-60, 10-seed Hampton upset 7-seed Northeastern, 70-65, and 8-seed Drexel dropped 9-seed Elon, 91-74, to advance to today's quarterfinals.
• In the First Round of the Big Sky, 7-seed Northern Arizona beat 8-seed Eastern Washington, 66-53, and 9-seed Weber State handled 10-seed Sacramento State, 83-70, to advance to today's first half of the quarterfinals.
