Updated Championship Week Predictions: "God Loves a Terrier"

I love it when either the Boston Terriers or the Wofford Terriers win a conference title because that means I get to play Gerry and Cookie Fleck's heartfelt original song from Best in Show, "God Loves a Terrier."  I tried to find a song to honor Delaware's unlikely run to the CAA title game as a 12-seed (!), but there aren't any decent songs about fightin' blue hens.

And we are at the point in Championship Week where things start to get crazy, with the majority of conference tournaments starting over the rest of this week.  Between today and tomorrow alone, 14 tournaments will start (and then one more starts Thursday and one more starts Saturday).  We're getting to the point of 12+ hours of college basketball every day.  Today, from the start of the Cincinnati/Oklahoma State game in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament at 12:30 p.m. ET to the end of the Idaho/Montana game in the Big Sky semis (which tips at 11:30 p.m. ET), we have 24 games across 13 conference tournaments, spanning around 13 hours.  Enjoy!

Here's what happened yesterday and what we have to look forward to today:

• In very exciting SoCon title game, 6-seed Wofford pulled away in the last minute to beat 5-seed Furman, 92-85.  The Terriers will be playing in their 6th Big Dance and first since 2019.
• In the Sun Belt championship, 3-seed Troy outlasted 4-seed Arkansas State, 94-81, to clinch the Trojans' 3rd NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2017.
• In the CAA semifinals, 12-seed Delaware upset 1-seed Towson, 82-72, and 2-seed UNC Wilmington beat 3-seed Charleston in a 68-67 thriller.  Delaware is not only the first 12-seed to make the CAA title game, but also the first 12-seed to make the CAA semis and quarters.  When they face off this evening in the title game, the Fightin' Blue Hens will be seeking their 7th NCAA Tournament berth and first since 2022, and the Seahawks will also be seeking their 7th berth and first since 2017.
• In the Horizon semis, 1-seed Robert Morris erased a double-digit second-half deficit and beat 6-seed Oakland, 79-76 in OT, and 4-seed Youngstown State upset 2-seed Cleveland State, 56-54 (clinching the Penguins' first-ever trip to the Horizon title game).  When they play in tonight's championship game, the Colonials will be playing for their 9th trip to the Big Dance and first since 2015 (and first since joining the Horizon), and the Penguins will be playing for their first-ever trip to the Big Dance.
• In the WCC semifinals, top seed St. Mary's made easy work of 9-seed Pepperdine, 74-59, and 2-seed Gonzaga held off 3-seed San Francisco, 85-76, to advance to tonight's title game.  Each year going back to 1995, the WCC title game has included at least one of these two schools, and this is the 15th time since 2004 that they are playing each other in the title game.  Both teams should be safely in the NCAA Tournament.  The Gaels will be playing in their 14th NCAA Tournament and fourth in a row, while the Bulldogs will be playing in their 27th NCAA Tournament and 26th in a row.
• In the second half of the Big Sky quarterfinals, 6-seed Idaho upended 3-seed Portland State, 80-70, and 5-seed Montana State crushed 4-seed Idaho State, 80-60, to advance to tonight's semifinals.
• In the Second Round of the Southland, which is effectively the quarterfinals, 3-seed Nicholls beat 7-seed Incarnate Word, 74-70 in OT, and 4-seed Northwestern State eked out a 66-63 win over 5-seed Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, to advance to tonight's semis.
