GMYH All-Decade Songs - 2000s

Ahh, this decade. War, global terrorism, escalating gas prices, a downward spiraling economy, and the emergence of Ashlee Simpson. Wow, what a horrible decade thus far. The "every other decade theory" propounded by Cynthia in Dazed and Confused (who would, on June 18, 1976, attend an Aerosmith concert in Houston with David Wooderson) seemed to suggest that the '80s would be "radical" (which they were), and, extending her theory forward, the '90s would suck (which was wrong) and the '00s would again be radical (which they aren't). At least the music (or at least some of it) has been pretty decent.

Does that make the white stripes or outkast the best band of the 2000's?

for shame, gmyh. though its clear you are generally a non-denominational pop music fan, your hip hop influences are simply anemic. all we ever see are former members of NWA and their progeny (Snoop Dogg, and the talentless 50 cent), Outkast, and Eminem (Nelly doesn't count). surely hip hop has more to offer than that. like say, mos def? the 2000's have been heavily influenced by hip hop, yet all we get is outkast, eminem, and 50 cent, none of whom have been relevant in half a decade. is it that hip hop fell off your radar in 2004, or does it really offer nothing? do you think nothing of chicago's own Common? and what of the chili peppers? surely some of their work merits inclusion.

still turning,

Wee, I think both have pretty good arguments. My personal choice would be the White Stripes, but that's not to take anything away from OutKast.

Sorry Jason. I'm just not into hip hop as much as I used to be. As I stated when I started this whole all-decade nonsense, the songs listed are simply my favorites. You obviously have your own, and that's cool. Obviously, I haven't heard every song that was made this decade. Also, I like the Chili Peppers, but I don't like any of their songs this decade more than the songs I have on the list. The purpose of the lists was not to include every single song made in each decade.
