A-Z CDs - Day 19

161. The Doors - Box Set Disc 1 (Without a Safety Net) (last listen: 2-5 years) - The Box Set is great, featuring many previously unreleased tracks, alternate takes, and demos.
162. The Doors - Box Set Disc 2 (Live in New York) (last listen: 2-5 years)
163. The Doors - Box Set Disc 3 (The Future Ain’t What It Used to Be) (last listen: 3 months to 1 year)
164. The Doors - Box Set Disc 4 (Band Favorites) (last listen: 1-2 years) - Most people probably don’t know that The Doors made a couple albums after Jim Morrison died, with Ray Manzarek taking over on lead vocals. One of the post-Morrison songs is “Tightrope Ride,” which appears on this CD and is a great song with a solid solo by Robbie Krieger.
165. Jim Morrison/The Doors - American Prayer (last listen: 5+ years) - This is kind of a spoken-word album featuring Jim Morrison’s poetry, with the other Doors providing the background music. It’s pretty much only for the hardcore Doors fan.
166. Dr. Dre - The Chronic (last listen: 0-3 months)

167. The Drifters - The Very Best of The Drifters (last listen: 0-3 months) - This is one of the CDs that Jessie left on a plane after Yeh’s wedding. I recently bought it again. It’s a great CD, spanning their heyday, including hits sung by Ben E. King (“There Goes My Baby,” “This Magic Moment,” “Save the Last Dance For Me”) and Rudy Lewis (“Up on the Roof,” “On Broadway”), and of course there’s “Under the Boardwalk,” which has an eerily somber tone, perhaps because it was recorded with new lead singer Johnny Moore the day after Lewis unexpectedly died.

Many apologies, but "Tightrope Ride" appears on Disc 3 of the Doors box set. I am sorry for misleading the many of you who undoubtedly purchased only Disc 4 in the past couple hours in reliance of my careless statement.

As somebody who appreciates brevity, thank you for your description of Dr. Dre's Chronic album.

Additionally, please do not let your description of the first disk of the Doors box set "Without a Safety Net" confuse anyone with the far superior live offering "Without a Net."

The names of the Doors box set discs are simply the names printed on each disc. I hope to God I haven't misled anyone.

As far as the Chronic, I think everyone knows it rules. "Let Me Ride" is my favorite Dre song.
