Beer #21 in the beer advent calendar was a nice, refreshing pilsner from 18th Street, which is Northwest Indiana's second-biggest brewery behind Three Floyds. They originally started with a brewpub in Gary, and then added a much larger space in Hammond. I've been to the Gary location, and it's pretty cool. They make great beers, and the Best Patio Pils is a very solid pilsner. I feel the same way about pilsners as I do about kölsches. They're almost always good, but I'm never knocked out by them. Still, this would be a great beer on a hot summer day, and I'm just glad it wasn't another hoppy advent calendar selection.
