Beer #2 in my beer advent calendar is a damned IPA. 3 Floyds is a great brewery that has been making great beer in Northwest Indiana -- aka "The Region" -- for nearly 25 years. Most people are probably more fond of their hoppy beers, like Zombie Dust and Alpha King, but my taste trends in the opposite direction, and make no mistake, 3 Floyds puts out some really good malty beers, like their Robert the Bruce Scottish Ale, Backmasking Oatmeal Stout, and various other smaller production bombers of stouts and imperial stouts. I also appreciate that they have a metal leaning, collaborating on beers with various metal bands, including Exodus, Mastodon, Cannibal Corpse, and Amon Amarth.
Barbarian Haze is a New England IPA, which means its hazier and juicier than your standard IPA. That usually means the hops aren't over the top, so for someone like me who doesn't really like IPAs, that makes NEIPAs easier to muscle down than, say, a Hop Slam. What I'm trying to say is that I don't hate Barbarian Haze as much as I hate other IPAs.
