Retro Video of the Week: "How Can We Be Lovers?" by Michael Bolton

Earlier today, my buddy DBH sent me a great Funny or Die video of the real Michael Bolton plays the character Michael Bolton from Office Space.  Here is the video.  It's pretty good.

That prompted me to choose a Michael Bolton song for this week's Retro Video of the Week.  I went with "How Can We Be Lovers?," a song that got up to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in April 1990.  Co-written by Bolton and hit-making songwriters Diane Warren and Desmond Child, "How Can We Be Lovers?" laments a relationship filled with hate fucking.  The relationship isn't going to last long term because the guy and girl clearly don't get along and apparently have no desire to reconcile their differences, but the answer to the big questions "how can we be lovers if we can't be friends?" and "how can we make love if we can't make amends?" is that you are two disease-free tigers in the sack -- or, more appropriately for Bolton, given his mane of hair in this video, two lions in the sack -- whose lust for each other is overpowering any rational thoughts.
