Updated Championship Week Predictions

Day 3 of Championship Week brought us the first top 2 seed to go down, as Atlantic Sun 2-seed fell to 3-seed South Carolina Upstate.  The Spartans will take on the top seeded Ospreys of North Florida Sunday with a trip to the Big Dance on the line.  Neither school has ever been to the NCAA Tournament.  It's games like this that make Championship Week so compelling.

We also almost had our first 1-seed go down, as Patriot League 1-seed Bucknell needed OT to get by 8-seed Holy Cross.

Yesterday also brought us our first Championship Week victories team seeded lowest in their tournaments, as MAAC 11-seed Marist upset 6-seed Quinnipiac and MVC 10-seed Bradley upset 7-seed Drake.

 

Three more conference tournaments start today:  the CAA, SoCon, and WCC.  Most importantly, though, is that we may see the first automatic bid clinched tonight, as Yale travels to Cambridge for a matchup with Harvard that could determine the Ivy League champion.  Both teams are 10-2 in the Ivy League, but Harvard already beat Yale once, so a win by the Crimson would clinch their fourth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.
