Updated Championship Week Predictions

Here comes the storm.  Today there will be 33 games -- over 12 hours of basketball.  Here's what happened yesterday:

• In the Horizon League final, top seed Valparaiso rallied from 8 down with less than 12 minutes left, ending the game on a 23-5 run to beat 2-seed Green Bay 54-44.  The Crusaders will be playing in their 9th NCAA Tournament and first since 2013.  They'll be looking for their first NCAA Tournament win since their magical Sweet 16 run in 1998 led by Bryce Drew, who is now their head coach.
• In the NEC championship game, 2-seed Robert Morris upset 1-seed St. Francis (NY), in a heartbreaking 66-63 loss for the Terriers on their home court.  Down 3 with about 2.4 seconds left, St. Francis guard Tyreek Jewell got fouled shooting a 3-pointer.  Only a 65% free throw shooter, Jewell missed all three shots.  Robert Morris then missed the front end of a 1 and 1, and St. Francis nearly made a three-quarter-court shot to send the game into OT, but it was not meant to be.  The loss means the Terriers remain on that dubious list of five original Division 1 schools that has never been to an NCAA Tournament (along with Army, The Citadel, Northwestern, and William & Mary).  The Colonials will be going to their 8th NCAA Tournament and first since 2010.
• In the Summit League title game, 2-seed North Dakota State topped 1-seed South Dakota State in a 57-56 thriller.  The Jackrabbits had the ball with a chance to win in the last seconds, but a 3-pointer clanked off the backboard, sealing the win for the Bison.  It is North Dakota State's 3rd NCAA Tournament and second in a row.  As I mentioned yesterday, last year the Bison took part in the annual ritual of a 12-seed upsetting a 5-seed in the NCAA Tournament, knocking off 5-seed Oklahoma.  Don't sleep on the Bison.
• In the WCC final, top seed Gonzaga beat 2-seed BYU 91-75 for the Bulldogs' 18th NCAA Tournament and 17th in a row.
• Ten tournaments start today, and 15 tournaments have games. 
• Only one bid is up for grabs today:  the Patriot League.

**Southern and Alabama State are both ineligible for post-season play this year, so neither will got to the NCAA Tournament if they win the SWAC Tournament.  If one of the ineligible teams wins the tournament, the team among the seven eligible teams that advances the furthest in the tournament will receive the conference's NCAA tournament bid.  If there is a tie (for example, all remaining tournament-eligible teams are eliminated in the same round), the automatic berth will go to the highest-seeded team.
